ABOUT KRISTIN - ADRIFT PRINTS

I grew up in Homer, AK with the mountains rising out of Kachemak Bay across from me and the beach in front of me. Now, I live and work as a High School teacher in Anchorage, AK and find daily inspiration from the mountains surrounding me. Creating each piece is a celebration of place and a form of connection to this dramatic and complex landscape. Linocut is a type of reduction printmaking, meaning I carve the rubber linoleum to make a stamp, roll ink over the block, and then hand press the paper resulting in the final image. Because of this process, each print has unique differences in texture and ink - each one is an original.
